Have a question?

How long is the certification process?

The length of the certification process depends on each participants availability to train onsite at an adult care home location.   Once all application criteria is completed & submitted, DHSR may take up to 30-days (COVID-19 Delay) to process and send out your administrator certificate.

How many hours of training is required?

Each administrator applicant must successfully complete 20-hours of "in-class" instruction, and 100- hours of "on-the-job" training at an adult care home.

Is there a list of approved preceptors?

No.  The administrator training  program approves adult care home administrators to precept students in their program.  Potential preceptors should be submitted to the program director prior to starting the 100-hours of "on-the-job" training.

Does the program help participants to find a preceptor

Yes,  The administrator training program aides participants in locating a preceptor.  The responsibility of connecting with potential preceptors lies with administrator in training participants.  The program does not  guarantee field placement for participants, as finding a preceptor is much like finding a job, it is up to the adult care home administrator, and is highly based on A.I.T. participants presentation and professionalism!

When can I take the administrator training?

The administrator training is a key component of the administrator application.  It is recommended that you take the administrator training as the 1st step to ensure that you have all the information you need for the next steps in training, testing, and certification.

When can I take the NC administrator exam

The administrator exam can be taken at any time.  It is recommended that applicants take the administrator training 1st for exam success strategies.
